Miami Dolphins place CB Richard Marshall on Injured Reserve

News just got out that starting CB Richard Marshall has been placed on Injured Reserve by the Miami Dolphins. Marshall, who was out the past few games with a back injury, has been removed for the season. Marshall was brought in over the offseason to replace Will Allen as the team's nickel corner, but he excelled in training camp, beating out then-incumbent Vontae Davis for a starting job. This led to Davis being traded to the Indianapolis Colts. Marshall then started the season at CB, and played fairly well while doing so. Marshall then sustained a back injury that forced him to miss the past few games, until he was removed for the remainder of the season. In Marshall's place, CB Nolan Carroll, who has shined this year, will be starting, while CB/FS Jimmy Wilson will handle most of the nickel duties and CB RJ Stanford will be first off the bench. Today, the Dolphins also signed CBs Brandon McDonald, who, after being drafted in the 5th rd of the 2007 draft, has bounced around from team to team, as well as CB Bryan McCann, who went undrafted in 2010, before being signed to the cowboys, where his only memorable defensive play was returning an Eli Manning INT 101 yards for a TD, while earning NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors. McDonald and McCann will provide some depth behind the 4 main CBs, but this secondary is getting thinner and thinner by the day. In other related news, the Dolphins also cut QB-turned-CB De'Andre Presley today to make room for McCann. we will see how this plays out.
